Teknoloji ile birlikte iş arama yöntemleri de hızla değişiyor. Görüntülü CV, online mülakat, portföy paylaşımı gibi olanaklar sunan internet siteleri, diğer yöntemlerin pabucunu dama atıyor. Yenibiriş Genel Müdürü Deniz Ceylan Kılıçlıoğlu ile iş arama yöntemlerini, nitelikli işgücü sorununu ve işsiz gençlerin ne yapması gerektiğin konuştuk. Türkiye’nin önemli bir sorununa da kat çeken Kılıçoğlu, çok fazla üniversite mezunu olduğunu ve eğitimli ara işgücü yetiştirilmediğini söyleyerek şu tanımlamayı yapıyor: “Şef çok, Kızılderili yok. Şefinde şeflikten anladığı yok.”

Geleceğin Meslekleri

Üniversite seçimi kadar önemli olan bir diğer konu ise bölüm seçimidir. Peki bölüm seçerken nelere dikkat etmek gerekir? Uzmanların bu konudaki ortak görüşü sevdiğiniz ve yeteneğinize uygun alanda eğitim almak şeklinde. Altın sektörlerin yeni meslekleri

Dergimiz aracılığı ile gençlere seslenen ve “Üniversite dönemini sadece okula gidilmesi gereken bir dönem olarak düşünmeyin, sizi iş hayatına hazırlayan bir dönem olarak da düşünün” diyen Yenibiriş Genel Müdürü Deniz Ceylan Kılıçlıoğlu, bilişim, sağlık, perakende ve otomotiv sektörlerinde oluşabilecek yeni istihdam alanlarını anlattı.
“Bilişim dinamik bir sektör olduğu için bugün çok yaygın olmayan meslekler çok kısa bir süre içerisinde ihtiyaç duyulan mesleklere dönüşebiliyor. Birkaç yıl içinde ihtiyaç duyulacak ve kurumlarca aranacak kişilerse şunlar olacak: Kullanıcı arabirim tasarımcısı, zengin internet uygulama geliştiricisi.”

As a key source of information "The Turkish Market"

According to the most recent census, %26 of the Turkish population is under age 15, and more than %60 is under 35 years of age. This large, young population in a country of 70 million people cannot be accommodated by its own post-secondary system; therefore, more than ever, students and their families are looking for alternatives.

Receiving an education is of great importance to Turkish citizens. Every year, over 30,000 Turkish students study overseas in language, college, university and vocational programmes, and they need solid information in order to choose where and when to study, as well as what is required to make their experience abroad as effective and enjoyable as possible.

As a key source of information, students and their families attend Educaturk International Education Fairs. Since over %70 of the population now lives in large urban centres, Educaturk takes place in the two largest cities: Istanbul and Ankara, each with its own, unique profile.

The Cities

Turkey has a population of just over 70 million and has an exceptionally high urbanization percentage, with consequently a high student population in the denser areas in particular. Nearly half of the population lives in the five largest cities. Educaturk will take you to the top two.

Istanbul

Istanbul is the largest city in Turkey, covering 27 districts of the Istanbul province. The last census indicated a population of over 12 million, but most locals will say anywhere between 12 and 20 million, depending on where you view the outlying borders to actually be.

This stunning city is located on the Bosphorus Strait and encompasses the natural harbor known as the Golden Horn, in the northwest of the country. It extends both on the European (Thrace) and on the Asian (Anatolia) side of the Bosphorus, and is thereby the only metropolis in the world that is situated on two continents.

ABD

ABD’de iş ve eğitim fırsatları Amerika’da yükseköğretim tamamen ücretli. Ancak herkesin ekonomik durumuna uygun bir okul bulmak da mümkün. Devlet üniversiteleri ile özel üniversiteler arasında iki kat bir fiyat farkı görülüyor. Amerikan’da yüksek öğretim ücretleri eyaletler ve okullar arasında ciddi farklılıklar gösterebiliyor. Ancak, ortalama 3.000 ile 40.000 dolar arasında değişiyor. Bu rakama, konaklama, sağlık sigortası ve yaşam masrafları da eklendiğinde bir yılın maliyeti 10.000 ile 60.000 dolar arasında değişiyor.

Almanya

Almanya, devletten destek alan 240 tiyatro, yüzlerce senfonik orkestra, binlerce müze ve 25.000’in üzerinde kütüphane ile bir kültür ülkesidir. Almanya’da her yıl 91 milyon kişi müzeleri ziyaret ediyor, 20 milyon kişi tiyatro ve operaya gidiyor ve 3,6 milyon kişi senfonik orkestraları dinliyor.

Avustralya

Verdikleri kaliteli eğitimden ötürü bütün üniversitelerinin YÖK denkliği bulunan Avustralya’da, yüksek öğretim ücretleri yıllık 11 bin dolarlara kadar iniyor. Avustralya’nın kapıları herkese açık Dünyanın nüfusuna göre en geniş topraklara sahip olan egzotik ülkesi Avustralya, yabancı öğrencilere kapılarını sonuna kadar açıyor. Nüfusu 19 milyon olan Avustralya, dünyanın her yerinden göç almış ve hoşgörüsü ile bilinen bir ülke. Avustralya’daki üniversitelerde okuyan yabancı öğrenci sayısı 130 bin civarında.

Avusturya

Avusturya’da eğitim ve yaşam Avusturya’da eğitim veren 100'ün üzerinde üniversite ve yüksekokul bulunuyor. YÖK, bu ülkedeki tüm üniversitelerin denkliğini tanıyor. Bazı eyaletlerde eğitim ücretsizken, bazılarında her dönem 500 avro okul harcı alınıyor. Avusturya’nın en köklü üniversitelerinden biri ise 600 yüzyılı aşan tarihiyle Viyana Üniversitesi’dir. 1365 yılında Duke Rudolf IV tarafından kurulan üniversitede, halen 130 ülkeden 71 bin öğrenci okuyor.

Çin

İlim Çin’de de olsa öğreniniz Hz. Muhammed’in “İlim Çin’de de olsa öğreniniz” sözlerinin üzerinden 1400 yıl sonra da, Çin’de eğitim artık çok daha gelişkin, üstelik eğitim için Çin’e gitmek artık çok daha kolay. Çin, Doğu’nun yükselen yıldızı olarak dünyanın dört bir yanından öğrenci kabul ediyor. Çin’de yüksek eğitimin ikinci dönemi 2009 yılı Şubat ayında başlayacak. Uzakdoğu Kültür Eğitim Dil Turizm ve Danışmanlık Şirketi, 15 Aralık’a kadar yeni dönemin kayıt başvurularının yapılabileceğini açıkladı.

Danimarka

Dünyanın en mutlu ülkesi: DANİMARKA Demokrasi, sosyal adalet ve barışçı atmosfer… Dünyanın en mutlu ülkesini tanımlayan sözler bunlar. Evet, Danimarka’dan söz ediyoruz. Shakespeare’in ünlü eseri Kral Hamlet’in ülkesinden… Bilim adamlarının yaptığı geniş çaplı bir araştırmada, dünyanın en mutlu ülkesinin Danimarka olduğu ortaya çıktı. ABD hükümetinin finanse ettiği Dünya Değerleri Araştırması'nın sonuçlarına göre Amerika ise sıralamada 16. oldu. Bugünlerde siyasi çalkantılarla boğuşan Afrika’nın yoksul ülkesi Zimbabve ise son sırada.

Yurtiçi Kariyer

Türkiye'nin önde gelen 50 firması, kurumsal yapılarda staj imkanlarını araştıran gençlerimizle Educaturk'te buluşuyor. 25-28 Şubat tarihleri arasında Educaturk İstanbul dahilinde yer alan kariyer alanında gerçekleştirilecek olan etkinlikte öğrenci ve yeni mezunlarımız Türkiye'nin en büyük firmaları ile bir araya gelerek; kurumları tanıma, cv sunma ve ön mülakat yapma imkanı bulacaklar.

Yurtdışı Kariyer

Her yıl Educaturk ve partner kuruluşları tarafından düzenlenen Kariyer Zirvesi bu yıl yine fuar dahilinde düzenlenecektir. Pozison listesi ve başvuru detaylarına 15 Ocak 2010 tarihinden itibaren bu sayfadan ulaşabilirsiniz. 2009 yılında düzenlenen etkinlik dahilinde; aralarında Google, Bank Of America, Marriott, Ritz Carlton, Kodak gibi firmaların da bulunduğu etkinlikte 1500 den fazla pozisyon için iş görüşmesi yapıldı.

Fransa

Aşkın ve sanatın başkenti Hangi sokağa girseniz tanıdık bir iz bulursunuz Paris’te. Ya bir romandan, ya bir resimden, ya bir hatıradan… Ne de olsa; dünyanın sanat, moda, şiir ve aşk başkenti Paris. Bir de, yüzde 10’u bulan yabancı öğrenci oranıyla, farklı kültürlerden gençlerin kaynaştığı bir eğitim başkenti. Düşünsenize, sizin hayatınızda da Parisli günler; neden olmasın? Fransa, sadece Paris demek değil elbette. Marsilya, Lyon, Bordeaux… Her köşesinde ayrı bir tarih, ayrı kültür yatar Fransa’nın. Fransa deyince akla ne çok şey geliyor. Vichy, Loreal, Nivea gibi kozmetik ürünleri; Renault, Citroen, Peugot gibi araba markaları; Cannes Film Festivali gibi sanatsal etkinlikler; moda, şaraplar, caddeler, kafeler… Elbette yazarlar; Victor Hugo, Balzac, J.J.Roussou, Voltaire, Sartre, Moliere, Descartes, Montesguieu, Diderot, Stendhal, Emile Zola, Albert Camus…

Güney Afrika

Güney Afrika, hem bir Afrika ülkesi, hem değil. Avrupai kentlerinde bildik Afrika algısından çok farklı hayatlar yaşanıyor. Şarabın ve turizmin başkenti Cape Town, aynı zamanda bir eğitim kenti. Tatili ve eğitimi bir arada halletmek, üstelik ucuza getirmek isteyenler için tek seçenek Güney Afrika. Cape Town’da tatil ve dil eğitimi Afrika’da eğitime ne dersiniz? Böyle söyleyince hiç cazip gelmiyor değil mi? Oysa, mesele dil öğrenmekse, anavatanında öğrenmek en iyisi. Ya da, o dilin aksansız konuşulduğu bir ülkede... Söz konusu olan İngilizce ise; İngiliz İngilizcesinin aksansız konuşulduğu yerlerin başında geliyor Güney Afrika.

İngiltere

Dünyanın en köklü eğitim kurumlarına sahip olan İngiltere’yi Türkler daha çok dil öğrenmek, master ve MBA eğitimi almak için tercih ediyorlar. İngiltere’de yüksek öğretim ücretleri ise 7 bin pounddan başlıyor. İngiltere’de dil, master ve MBA eğitimi Dünyanın en köklü eğitim kurumlarına sahip ülkesi İngiltere, yabancı öğrenciler için kaliteli eğitim olanağı sağlıyor. Sadece yüksek eğitimde 600’den fazla okula sahip olan İngiltere’de, yüzlerce dil okulu da bulunuyor. İngilizce’nin anavatanı, Türkiye’ye yakınlığı ile de diğer alternatiflere göre önemli bir seçenek.

İspanya

Flamenko, siesta, üniversite Dünyada yarım milyara yakın insan İspanyolca konuşuyor ve bu dil 21 ülkenin resmi dili. Dünya ticaretinde ağırlığını giderek artıran İspanya, çok kültürlü yapısı ile yabancı öğrencilere geniş olanaklar sunuyor. İspanya’dan söz edip de, Kristof Kolomb’u es geçmek olmaz. Amerika’yı keşfettiği gezisine çıkan Kolomb sayesinde dünyanın en büyük sömürge imparatorluklarından birini kuran İspanya, bugün İspanyolca’nın bu kadar yaygın olmasını da Kolomb’a borçlu.

İsveç

Mutlu insanlar ülkesi: İSVEÇ 200 yıldır hiçbir savaşa girmeyen ve mutlu insanların ülkesi olarak adlandırılan İsveç, hem eğitim hem de tatil için önemli alternatifler sunuyor. Köklü üniversitelerinde eğitimin devlet tarafından desteklenmesi öğrenciler için eğitimin maliyetini iyiden iyiye düşürürken, üniversiteleri, akademileri, müzeleri, tarihi ve turistik güzellikleri ile Stokholm ve Göteborg sizleri bekliyor.

İsviçre

Alpler’de kayak ve eğitim bir arada Büyüleyici doğası, Avrupa'nın çatısı olarak nitelenen dağları ve tadına doyulmaz çikolatası ile İsviçre, hem yaşamak hem de eğitim görmek için ideal bir ülke. Türkiye’ye uçakla üç saat mesafede bulunan İsviçre’nin resmi dili Almanca, Fransızca ve İtalyanca’dır. İsviçre’nin eğitim sistemi ise ülkenin sosyo-kültürel ve sosyo-ekonomik koşullarına paralel olarak son derece kaliteli. Birçok konuda uzmanlaşmış okullarıyla İsviçre, eğitimde kalite arayanlar için ideal bir ülke. Lise mezunu iseniz ve Türkiye’de bir yüksek öğretim kurumuna kayıt yaptırmadıysanız İsviçre eğitim anlamında önemli bir alternatif oluşturabilir. Ancak İsviçre’de yükseköğrenime devam edebilmek için Freiburg Sınavı’ndan geçmeniz gerekiyor. Freiburg Sınavı, Almanya ve UK’deki hazırlık yılına (Studienkolleg) tekabül ediyor. Sadece University of Basel bu sınava gerek duymadan Türk öğrencileri kabul ediyor. Anadolu, fen ve genel lise diplomalarından birine sahipseniz ve ÖSS’de üç sınav türünden ikisinden 185 barajını, birinden ise 270 üzeri puan almışsanız kayıt için sadece dil yeterliliği aranıyor.

İtalya

ÇİZME’NİN İÇİNDEKİ DÜNYA İtalya denince aklınıza ilk olarak ne geliyor? Pizza, spagetti, moda, şarap, peynir, futbol… Hangisi? Yoksa şehirleri mi aklınıza geliyor? Roma, Milano, Venedik, Floransa… Sizi en cezbeden şehri hangisi? Aslında İtalya’yı İtalya yapan birkaç sözcük ya da tanımlama değil o “çizmenin” içini dolduran her şey. Tarihi ve turistik güzellikleri, sanat ve modaya yön veren vizyonu ile İtalya, görülmeye değer bir ülke olarak yanı başımızda duruyor. Tabi ‘çizmenin’ içindeki eğitim olanaklarını da unutmamak lazım.

Kanada

Birleşmiş Milletler tarafından dünyada yaşanılabilir en iyi ülke olarak tanımlanan Kanada, kaliteli eğitim hizmetiyle de gençlerin gözdesi. Kanada’da dil eğitiminin haftalık ücreti 180 ile 290 dolar arasında değişirken lise ve lisans programlarının yıllık ücretleri ise 8 bin dolardan başlıyor. En güvenli ülkede eğitim Son yılların gözde ülkesi Kanada, özellikle dil öğrenmek isteyen yabancıların tercih ettiği bir ülke. İngilizce eğitimi için en çok tercih edilen bölgeler Ontario Eyaleti’nde bulunan Toronto ile iklimi Türkiye’ye benzeyen Vancouver kentleri. Quebec Eyaleti’nde konuşulan dil Fransızca olduğundan Fransızca dil okullarına devam etmek de mümkün. Çok sayıda özel dil okulu bulunan Kanada’da bazı üniversiteler bünyesinde 4-12 haftalık kurslar açıyorlar. Kanada, 6 aydan kısa süre kalacak öğrencilerden sadece turist vizesi istiyor; daha uzun süreli eğitimler için ise öğrenci vizesi şart koşuluyor.

Macaristan

Avrupa Birliği üyesi olan ve yüksek öğretimde standartlarını yükselten Macaristan, yabancı öğrenciler için fırsatlar ülkesi. Türkiye’ye oldukça yakın bir ülke olan Macaristan’da İngilizce olarak üniversite eğitimi almak mümkün. Uzun sözün kısası daha ekonomik olanaklarla, nitelikli bir eğitim ve AB geçerliliği olan diploma almak mümkün. Avrupa’nın kalbinde üniversite Macaristan, Türkiye’ye yakın, ancak eğitim olanakları açısından Türkiye’de fazla bilinmeyen bir ülke. 1 Mayıs 2004 yılından itibaren Avrupa Birliği üyesi olan ülke, aslında kültürel açıdan oldukça geniş bir tarihsel mirasa sahip. Bir kültürel değişim programı olan Aupair’lik güvenilir şartlarda ve ekonomik kuşullarda çocuk bakımına ve ev işlerine yardımcı olunarak dil öğrenmektir. 2023 Eğitim Vizyonu

Bizimde Şöhretlerimiz Var

Bünyesinde bir lise, bir özel tiyatro ve bir de sanat galerisi bulunan Pera Güzel Sanatlar, 1991 yılından beri verdiği eğitimle gençleri hayallerine kavuşturuyor. AB Gençlik Programları

Avrupa Birliği bünyesindeki gençlik programları ile yepyeni kapılar açmak mümkün. Comenius, Leonardo da Vinci, Erasmus ve Grundvig programları ile milyonlarca avro, proje üreten Türkiyeli gençlerin hizmetine sunuluyor. Türk Ulusal Ajansı, bugüne kadarki başarılı çalışmalarıyla 50 bin kişinin bu programlardan yararlanmasını sağladı. Haydi gençler proje üretmeye... Türk Ulusal Ajansı; bir başka deyişle Avrupa Birliği ve Gençlik Programları Merkezi Başkanlığı, Türkiye gençliğini dünya ile buluşturuyor. Dört yılda 4 bin 500 projeye destek veren merkez, Avrupa Birliği sürecinin eğitim ve gençlik ayağının önemli bir unsuru. Gençler, bu programlar ile yurtiçinde veya yurtdışında çeşitli etkinliklere dahil olabiliyorlar, projeler yapabiliyor, uluslararası veya yerel projeler hazırlayabiliyorlar. Başbakanlık Devlet Planlama Müsteşarlığı’nın ilgili kurumu niteliğinde olan Türk Ulusal Ajansı, bugüne dek 50 bine yakın kişinin bu projelerden doğrudan yararlanması gibi önemli başarılara imza attı. Avrupa Birliği’nin karşılıksız hibe olarak sunduğu 137 milyon avroyu da Türkiye gençliğinin kullanımına sundu.

Çevre

Bir dünya bırakın biz çocuklara: SUSUZ OLMASIN! Dünyada yaklaşık 1 milyar insan temiz ve sağlıklı içme suyundan mahrum. 2,5 milyar insan ise suyla ilgili temizlik ve sağlık hizmetlerinden yoksun. Türkiye’nin ise en erken 2010, en geç 2030’da su fakiri ülkeler arasına katılması bekleniyor. Evet, bu bilgiler bile yaklaşan tehlikeyi göstermekte yeterli. Büyükler bu sorunu nasıl aşacaklarını düşüne dursun, İstanbul’da toplanan Dünya Su Forumu’na bir deklarasyon sunan 2 bin çocuk, yaratıcı önerilerle suya sahip çıktılar. İşte o yaratıcı fikirlerden birkaçı şöyle: - Su tüketimi konusunda insanları bilinçlendirilsin. - Su konusunda bir tasarruf mitingi düzenlensin. - Daha çok ağaçlandırma yapılsın. - Sera gazlarının kontrol altına alınsın.

Darwin

YANLIŞ ANLADIĞIMIZ İÇİN ÖZÜR DİLERİZ Dünyanın en tartışma yaratan bilim adamı Charles Darwin, doğumunun 200. yılında tüm dünyada anılıyor. UNESCO, 2009 yılını İngiltere Kilisesi’nin özür dilediği, Vatikan’ın özür dilemeye hazırladığı Darwin’e adadı. Dünyada ve Türkiye’de Evrim Kuramı ve Darwin ile ilgili pek çok etkinlik yapılacak. Görüşlerinden ötürü Darwin’i aforoz eden İngiltere Kilisesi, Eylül 2008’de özür diledi ve şunları söyledi: “Seni yanlış anladığımız, sana karşı gösterdiğimiz ilk tepkide hatalı oluşumuz ve bu sebeple başkalarının da seni yanlış anlamasına yol açtığımız için özür dileriz.”

Down Sendromu

Down Sendromu ve Otizm nedir? Ekol Psikolojik-Pedagojik Danışmanlık ve Eğitim Merkezi Kurucu Pedagogu Ebru Erdoğan, Down Sendromu’nun kromozom bozukluğundan kaynaklandığını söyleyerek “Türkiye’de zihinsel yönden geri olan çocuklar için aslında son zamanlarda pek çok yer açıldı. Bence sorun yersizlikten değil, eğitimsel kalitenin yeterli olmamasındandır.” diye konuştu. “Down Sendromu olan bebeklerde kromozom sayılarında veya kromozom yapısında farklılıklar vardır. Bu yüzden bu çocuklar diğer bireylerden farklı özelliklere sahiptirler. Yumuşak bir kas yapıları, gözlerin çekik, burun kökünün çökük, dilin büyük oluşu ilk dikkati çeken özelliklerindendir.”

Eğitim ve Çocuk

Her yüz çocuktan ikisi üstün zekalı ve yetenekli. Ancak çoğu keşfedilemediği için yetenekleri körelip gidiyor. Zekası keşfedilenler için ise yeterli eğitim olanağı olmaması en büyük sorun. Antik Yunan’da keşfedilen bu çocuklar için Platon “Altın Çocuklar” diyordu. Bugünün “Altın Çocukları”, hepimizin desteğini bekliyor. Daha iyi bir Türkiye, daha güzel bir dünya için; onların bize değil, bizim onlara ihtiyacımız var. Altın Çocuklar destek bekliyor Mozart, altı yaşında piyano çalmaya başladığında anne ve babası yeteneğinin ne kadar farkındaydı acaba? Ya Mimar Sinan’ın sırları hala çözülemeyen mimari bir deha olacağını kim kestirebilirdi? Socrates, Aristotales, Einstein ve diğerleri...

Gençlik ve Markalar

Onlar yüzde 52 salt çoğunluğa sahip. Ama nedense sözleri dinlenmiyor, düşüncelerine değer verilmiyor, kimse onları anlamıyor. Evet, gençlerden söz ediyoruz. Yıllardır “marka bağımlısı” olmakla eleştirilen gençler, markaların hedef kitlesi durumunda. Markalar, gençlerin hızlı değişen dünyasında yer tutmanın yollarını arıyor. Artık marka olmanın yolu da gençleri kazanmaktan geçiyor. Gençleri kazanan, geleceği kazanacak Kokoş, modern, bobo, teknolog, girişimci... Bunlar ilk akla gelen gençlik profilleri. Daha pek çok sözcük ve kavram türetilebilir gençleri tanımlamak için. En kısa yoldan genç demek yeter aslında. 60’lar; 70’ler, 80’ler, 90’lar, hep farklı gençlik kuşaklarını tanımlamak için kullanıldı. 60’lar ve 70’ler için politik denildi; 80’ler için apolitik... Pop çağının çocukları popüler kültürün çemberi içinde tıkıldı kaldı. 90’lar arayış yıllarıydı özünde. Ya 2000’ler?

İnternet Bağımlılığı

İnternette doz aşımı ‘bağımlılık’ yapıyor Ekol Psikolojik-Pedagojik Danışmanlık ve Eğitim Merkezi Pedagogu Ebru Erdoğan, bundan sonra her ay ‘sağlıklı yaşam’ köşemizde sorularımızı yanıtlayacak. Eylül sayımızda ‘öğrenme güçlüğü ve hiperaktiviteyi’ ele alan Erdoğan, bu ayki sayımızda internet ve bilgisayar bağımlılığını anlatıyor. “ Çin hükümeti, 3 saatten fazla bilgisayar başında kalmayı yasaklamış ve online denetime başlamıştır. Yine Çin’de internet ve oyunlarının bağımlılığını tedavi etmeye yönelik bir merkez açılmıştır. 14- 24 arası gençler buralarda tedavi ediliyor.”

Kültürlü Kadınlar

Ful Akıngüç Över, Lale Akıngüç Sevgen ve Bahar Akıngüç Günver… Onlar da dedeleri ve babaları gibi eğimle uğraşıyorlar. Eğitimci bir ailenin üçüncü kuşağı olan Ful, Lale ve Bahar Akıngüç, insanı temel alan böylesine keyifli bir aile geleneğini sürdürmekten büyük mutluluk duyuyorlar. Eğitimin patronu ‘Kültürlü’ kadınlar Türkiye’nin en eski özel öğretim kurumu olan ve anaokulundan, üniversiteye kadar her kademede eğitim veren Kültür Eğitim Kurumları, üç kız kardeşe emanet. İlk ve orta öğrenimlerini Kültür Okulları’nda tamamlayan, yurtdışında ‘eğitim üzerine’ yaptıkları master ve doktora ile donanımlarını arttıran Ful, Lale ve Bahar Akıngüç ile keyifli ve hoş bir sohbet gerçekleştirdik. Krizi fırsata çevirecek Bahçeşehir Üniversitesi bünyesinde kurulan Mesleki ve Teknik Eğitimi Geliştirme Merkezi (METGEM), yürüttüğü projelerle gençleri meslek sahibi yapıyor. İş-Kur başta olmak üzere pek çok şirket ve dermekle ortak çalışmalar yürüten METGEM, aynı zamanda 11 bin 320 sanayi kuruluşunun katıldığı dev bir ankete de imza attı. Tüm dünyayı kasıp kavuran krizi fırsata çevirmeyi planladıklarını dile getiren METGEM Başkanı Azize Gökmen ile yürüttükleri çalışmalar ve amaçları hakkında konuştuk. “Bugün tüm dünyayı tehdit eden ekonomik kriz ülkemizde de birçok sektörü etkilemiştir. Yaşanan durgunluk döneminde sektör çalışanlarının niteliklerinin arttırılması için önemli bir fırsattır. Diğer taraftan işsiz kalan insanların yetkinliklerinin tespit edilerek buna uygun eğitim programları ile yetiştirmek ve iş dünyasına kazandırmak önemli hedeflerimizdendir.”

ÖSS

YÖK Genel Kurulu, 2010 yılından itibaren yükseköğretime geçişte uygulanacak yeni sınav sistemi konusunda karara vardı. Alınan karara göre üniversitelere giriş sınavı 2010 yılından itibaren iki aşamalı yapılacak. Birinci aşaması “Yükseköğretime Geçiş Sınavı” (YGS) olarak adlandırılan ortak ve tek bir sınav olacak. İkinci aşama ise Lisans Yerleştirme Sınavları (LYS) olarak adlandırılan 5 sınavdan oluşacak. Uğur Dershaneleri ÖSS Koordinatörü Turgay Polat, yeni sınav sistemini ve ayrıntılarını anlattı.

Sağlık

Bugün 143 saat çalıştığı zaman ancak 1300 YTL’lik bir buzdolabı alabilen öğretmenler, cumhuriyet’in ilk yıllarında maaş olarak 20 altın lira alıyorlardı. Okul müdürüne ise 25 altın veriliyordu. Yani bugünün parası ile 3 bin YTL alıyorlardı. Cumhuriyet ilan edilirken Türkiye’nin 10 bin 238 ilkokul, 1054 ortaokul ve 838 lise öğretmeni vardı. Bugün Türkiye 600 bini aşkın dev bir eğitim ordusuna sahip. Türkiye’nin ilköğretimde 65 bin, ortaöğretimde ise 15 bin 559 öğretmen açığı var.

Yüksek Öğretim

YÜKSEKÖĞRETİM BÜTÇESİ 3,29’A DÜŞTÜ İstanbul Politikalar Merkezi'nin (İPM) yükseköğretimi masaya yatırdığı “Neden Yeni Bir Yükseköğretim Vizyonu?” başlıklı rapora göre Türkiye’de son 20 yılda yükseköğretimin payı toplam bütçe içinde yüzde 3,89’dan yüzde 3,29’a düştü. Ayrıca 1990 yılında yükseköğretimin aldığı pay 28 üniversite tarafından paylaşılırken 2008’de bu rakam 94 üniversiteye çıktı. DİN EĞİTİMİNE YENİ FORMÜL Raporda din eğitimi konusu da ele alınıyor. İmam Hatip okullarının sayıları ve öğrenci kontenjanları din adamı ihtiyacıyla sınırlandırılmasının gerektiği söylenen raporda, bu liselerin diğer meslek liselerinden ayrı bir kategori değerlendirilmesi öneriliyor. Raporda, imam olamayacakları gerçeğinden hareketle İmam Hatip okullarına kız öğrenci alımına son verilmesi ve mevcut kuran kurslarının yaygınlaştırılması çabalarından vazgeçilmesi gerektiği de belirtiliyor.

Zeka Nedir?

Zekâ gelişimi ve beslenme Ekol Psikolojik-Pedagojik Danışmanlık ve Eğitim Merkezi Pedagogu Ebru Erdoğan, zekâ ve beyin gelişiminin paralellik gösterdiğini söyleyerek özellikle hamilelik döneminde ve sonrasında alınan gıdaların önemine dikkat çekti. Bu ayki ‘sağlıklı yaşam’ köşesinde ‘zekâ ve gelişimini’ ele alan Erdoğan, duygusal zekâ kavramına da açıklık getirdi. “Yapılan çalışmalar şunu göstermiştir ki, bir çocuğun zekâ potansiyeli anne babasının zekâsına benzer düzeydedir. Annenin gebelik sırasında iyi beslenmesi ile doğduktan sonra çocuğun yeterli ve dengeli beslenmesi de zeka gelişimini etkilemektedir.”

AB'nin "Mavi" Kariyeri

Bilindiği üzere üç yıl önce Avrupa Komisyonu işgücü piyasasıyla ilgili bir çalışma yapmış ve 2010-2030 yılları arasında mevcut büyüme oranlarıyla Avrupa Birliği ülkelerinde 20 milyon işçinin azalacağı ortaya konmuştu. AB’nin ‘mavi’ kariyeri Avrupa Birliği, kalkınmakta olan ülkelerin iyi eğitim görmüş kalifiye elemanlarını kendi iş gücü piyasasına dahil etmek için harekete geçti. Bu amaçla ‘Blue Card’ çıkarmaya hazırlanan AB, böylece rekabet gücünü arttırmayı hedefliyor. Kasım ayında kesinleşmesi beklenen ‘Blue Card’, kart sahiplerine 27 AB ülkesinde serbest dolaşım ve çalışma hakkı tanıyor. Ayrıca Blue Card sahipleri ülke ortalamasından daha fazla ücret alacaklar.

Geleceğin Meslekleri

Üniversite seçimi kadar önemli olan bir diğer konu ise bölüm seçimidir. Peki bölüm seçerken nelere dikkat etmek gerekir? Uzmanların bu konudaki ortak görüşü sevdiğiniz ve yeteneğinize uygun alanda eğitim almak şeklinde. Gençler Hangi Şirketlerde Çalışıyor?

Gençlerin kariyer planında bilişim var Data Profil tarafından yapılan “Gençlerin Çalışmak İstediği İlk 5 Şirket” araştırması, artık kariyer planında bilişim ve yazılım şirketlerinin ilk sıralara yerleştiğini gösteriyor. Yapılan araştırma gençlerin en çok çalışmak istediği şirketin Microsoft olduğunu ortaya çıkardı. Microsoft’u sırasıyla Koç Holding, Sabancı Holding, Google ve Eczacıbaşı takip ediyor. Gençler, kendilerine ciddi kariyer olanakları sağlayan, uluslararası, sektöründe öncü, dinamik bir yapıya sahip iyi ücret veren şirketlerde çalışmak istiyorlar.

Altın Sektörler

Altın sektörlerin yeni meslekleri Dergimiz aracılığı ile gençlere seslenen ve “Üniversite dönemini sadece okula gidilmesi gereken bir dönem olarak düşünmeyin, sizi iş hayatına hazırlayan bir dönem olarak da düşünün” diyen Yenibiriş Genel Müdürü Deniz Ceylan Kılıçlıoğlu, bilişim, sağlık, perakende ve otomotiv sektörlerinde oluşabilecek yeni istihdam alanlarını anlattı. “Bilişim dinamik bir sektör olduğu için bugün çok yaygın olmayan meslekler çok kısa bir süre içerisinde ihtiyaç duyulan mesleklere dönüşebiliyor. Birkaç yıl içinde ihtiyaç duyulacak ve kurumlarca aranacak kişilerse şunlar olacak: Kullanıcı arabirim tasarımcısı, zengin internet uygulama geliştiricisi.” “Otomekatronik mühendisi, hem elektrik hem de makine mühendisliğini kapsayan bir dal. Şu an değil; ama iki-üç yıl sonra teknolojinin daha da gelişmesiyle popüler olacağı konusunda bir öngörüde bulunabiliriz.”

E-MBA

Yönetici yetiştiren program İş dünyasından gelen talepler doğrultusunda oluşturulan ve ilk öğrencilerini bu yıl alacak olan Executive MBA Programı’na kabuller başladı. MBA eğitiminin yanı sıra kişiye yöneticilik becerileri kazandırmayı amaçlayan bu yüksek lisans programına katılımın ön koşulu ise en az 5 yıllık iş deneyimine sahip olmak. Executive MBA Programı kapsamında katılımcılara bir buçuk yıl boyunca ‘Koçluk Hizmeti’ verilecek. Koçluk hizmeti kapsamında, program katılımcılarının yöneticilik alanındaki dezavantajları tespit edilecek ve iyileştirici çalışmalar yürütülecek.

Gençlerin Kariyer Tercihi Değişiyor

Küresel ekonomik kriz dünya piyasalarını sarsmaya devam ediyor. Finans sektöründe işten atmalar yaşandıkça, gençlerin kariyer tercihleri de değişiyor. Kısa süre öncesine kadar gençlerin rağbet ettiği finans sektörü artık “out”. Onun yerine reel sektör “in” oldu ve geleceği parlak gençler endüstriye yöneliyor. REEL SEKTÖR IN, FİNANS SEKTÖRÜ OUT Küresel ekonomik kriz gençlerin iş tercihlerinde de değişikliğe yol açıyor. Banka çalışanlarının büyük bir işsizlikle karşı karşıya olduğu Amerika’da gençler “iş bulamam” kaygısıyla finans sektöründen uzaklaşıyor. Endüstri gibi reel sektör alanları gençlerin yeni gözdesi haline geldi. Özellikle finans sektöründe toplu işten atmaların arttığı Amerika’da, son aylarda toplam 150 bin bankacının işsiz kaldığı belirtiliyor. 2009 yılında bu sayının 500 bine kadar yükseleceği tahmin ediliyor. İngiltere’deki tablo ise çok daha karanlık. Çünkü, İngiltere’de işsiz sayısının bu yıl 2 milyonu bulacağı belirtiliyor.

CO-OP

Yurtdışında yaygın olarak uygulanan “Cooperative Education”dan esinlenilmiş bir model olan CO-OP eğitim modeli, 20. Yüzyılın başlarında Amerika’da uygulanmaya başlandı. Türkiye’de ilk kez uygulanan bu eğitim modeli sayesinde öğrenciler mezun olmadan Türkiye'nin önde gelen firmalarında çalışma fırsatı buluyor. “COOPER” adı verilen öğrencilerin kredili seçmeli ders statüsünde kaydolacağı ve karşılığında bir de sertifika alacağı programda öğrenciler, müfredatlara girmeyen dersleri bizzat profesyonel yöneticilerden alırken, yaz aylarını bu şirketlerde çalışarak geçirecek.

Kurumumuzu tanıtmak açısından iyi bir nokta olduğunu düşünüyoruz. Gelen ziyaretçilere kendimizi anlatma olanağı bulduğumuz gibi, katılımcı kurumlarla da ilişkilerimizi ilerlettik, akademik anlamda ileriye dönük ne tür çalışmalar gerçekleştirebileceğimizi görüştük. Sonuç itibariyle bizim için son derece verimli geçti dört gün.

Tarihçesi

Dizilim sporunun nasıl doğduğunu hiç düşündünüz mü? Ya da nasıl bu kadar çabuk popüler olduğunu? İşte dizilim sporunun tarihçesi ve arkasındaki yaratıcı kişiler… Dizilim sporu 1980'lerde ilk kez Güney Carolina'da ortaya çıktı. Daha sonra 1990 yılında Johnny Carson'un sunduğu “Tonight Show” ile Amerikan halkının karşısına çıktı. İşte tam o anda bir ilk okul sınıf öğretmeni olan Bob Fox'ın ilgisini çekti.

Sport Stacking turnuvalarını düzenleme ve resmi yarışma ürünlerini satış hakkı Türkiye'de sadece Educaturk'e aittir. Amerika Birleşik Devletleri, Kanada, Almanya, İngiltere, Japonya ve Avustralya başta olmak üzere dünyada pek çok ülkede popüler bir spor olan “sport stacking” yarışmalarının ve dünya çapında tescilli resmi yarışma ekipmanları olan Speed Stacks ürünlerinin Türkiye hakları ülkemizde eğitim organizasyonları alanında ilklerin yaratıcısı olan Educaturk tarafından alınmıştır.

AYNI ÇATI ALTINDA İKİ DEV FUAR Türkiye’nin en büyük eğitim fuarı Educaturk ve eğitim teknolojileri fuarı Educashow, güçlerini birleştirdi. 2009 Şubat’ında aynı tarihlerde, aynı alanda yapılacak iki fuar, eğitim sektörünün seçkin temsilcilerini buluşturacak. 19-22 Şubat 2009 tarihleri arasında Lütfi Kırdar Kongre ve Sergi Sarayı’nda yapılacak olan Educaturk ve Educashow pek çok yeniliğe de ev sahipliği yapacak.

2008

Educaturk 1400'ün üzerinde genci ABD'de iş sahibi yapacak 14-17 Şubat tarihleri arasında düzenlenecek olan Educaturk Eğitim Fuarı'na katılan gençler ABD'de çalışma olanağına kavuşacak. Best Western, Hyatt, Marriott ve Hilton'unda aralarında bulunduğu şirketlerde çalışmak üzere 1400'ün üzerinde kişi seçilecek. ABD'nin en büyükleri ile iş görüşmesi Üniversiteden yeni mezun olan ya da kariyerlerinde yeni bir başlangıç yapmak isteyen gençler düşünülerek hazırlanan özel bölümlerde ABD'deki iş olanakları tanıtılacak. “3. Uluslararası Kariyer Zirvesi” adı altında gerçekleşecek bu etkinlik boyunca, gençler profesyonel iş yaşamlarına ilk adımı ABD'de atma şansı yakalayacak.

2007

Educaturk Ege'de Eğitim Rüzgarı Estirdi Türkiye'nin en büyük ve en geniş kapsamlı eğitim fuarı Educaturk Nisan ayı başlarında İzmir'i etkisi altına alırken, katılım oldukça yoğundu. Çeşitli illerden çeşitli okulların ve eğitim firmalarının katıldığı fuar, her yönden amacına ulaşmış bir organizasyon olarak sona erdi. Türkiye'nin en büyük eğitim fuarı Educaturk, 2005 ve 2006 yıllarında İstanbul'da yoğun ilgi ve ziyaretçi katılımıyla gerçekleştirilirken büyük ses getirmişti. 2007 yılında ise İstanbul'dan sonra İzmir'de de Educaturk şöleni yaşandı. Fuar, katılımcı eğitim kurumları, bilgilendirici sempozyumları, eşsiz şovları ve organizasyon kalitesi ile 12-13-14 Nisan tarihleri arasında İzmir'de de büyük ilgi görürken 30018 kişi tarafından ziyaret edildi.

2006

Merhaba; Türkiye'de ilkleri gerçekleştiren Educaturk, 9-12 Mart 2006 tarihleri arasında ikinci kez ziyaretçilerine kapılarını açtı! 4 gün boyunca yediden yetmişe her yaştan ziyaretçinin geldiği Educaturk Eğitim Fuarı 112.000 kişilik rekor bir katılım ile gerçekleşti. Yurtiçi ve yurtdışından 350'yi aşkın kurumun temsil edildiği Educaturk'te fuar süresince ayrıca sempozyumlar, profesyonel ve amatör gösteriler, konserler, sergiler, turnuvalar ve daha bir çok etkinlikler gerçekleştirildi.

EDUCATURK'TEN KARAGÖL'LÜ ÇOCUKLARA MÜJDE! Educaturk'ün “ Bir Işık ta Siz Tutun” sloganıyla devam eden projesi, Samsun Karagöl İlköğretim Okulu'nun bizzat yetkililere ulaşıp destek talepleri sayesinde gerçekleşiyor. Öğrencilerin istekleri doğrultusunda, hayata daha bilinçli hazırlanabilmeleri için gerekli görsel malzeme ve doküman desteğini Karagöl İlköğretim Okulu'na ulaştıran Educaturk, öğrencilerin tek tek yazdıkları teşekkür mektuplarına cevap olarak, Mart 2006 tarihinde gerçekleşecek olan 2. Educaturk Eğitim Fuarı'nda çocukları İstanbul'da ağırlayacağı müjdesini 23 Nisan 2005'te okul öğrencilerine ulaştırdı.

International Federation for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus IF is a world-wide network of organisations of people with Spina Bifida ('open back') and Hydrocephalus ('water on the brain') and their families. IF aims to improve the quality of life of people with these impairments and to increase primary prevention (i.e. prevention of these disability by promoting the intake of folic acid).

Project environment Rojm is working for Moroccan , other migrant youngsters and all other youngsters between 11 and 25 years old in particular. Via this youth centre, the young people can participate in a wide variety of activities. In the first place the youth centre wants to be a place where young people can meet each other and exchange experiences.

The main activities of the foundation are in the field of culture, education and encounter, science, communication and network. The foundation runs in Dresden a meeting and study center, which provides the bases for many Czech-German as well as international projects,

MYRETUEN Myretuen is a kindergarden situated in a small village, taking care of about 60 children. There are three playrooms with 20 children each for which 2 pedagogues and an assistant are responsible. The children in the kindergarden are from 3 to 6 years old. The children are mainly Danish, but there are also some from other ethnic backgrounds.

Mariagertjord Youth School is a non-profit public service organisation for youngsters in the age group 13-19 years and offers both professional and leisure activities. Mariagerfjord Youth School has an annual tumover af 8 million DKK. The organisation has just about 125 employees, most of then are part-time employed. We have 900 active members in youth clubs and 1.000 youngsters who take part in teaching and cultural offerings.

The Social Café Amadeus is a project with the aim of running a Café as "an open door" in the part of the city of Copenhagen, named "Kgs. Enghave". The project wants to contribute to the local area with a Drop in Café for people with social difficulties, to care for the weakest in the society by offering social contact, food, a chat and help to solve sicial and personal problems. The project is welcoming abusers as well, but is not involved in or taking responsibility of the treatment of abusers.

ABOUT KULTURPRINSEN Kulturprinsen (the Cultureprince) is an independent institution, funded partly by the local community and partly by national fundings. The municipality of Viborg where Kulturprinsen is situated, takes a special interest in working with children's culture, and this work has long traditions.

Project environment The objective of Ida-Virumaa County's House of Disabled People is to support psychologically disabled people in their everyday life, to motivate them for independent living and give a chance to spend their spare time actively. The activities of House usually take place in Jõhvi`s Day Centre, the office is placed at the same house as well. From 2007 House plans to provide independent residential living facilities with special support for the clients. At the moment there are 13 active clients aged 16 to 45. Some of the clients are Russian speaking.

The Kohtla-Nõmme Children's House was founded in the year 2000 to give home for children who are orphans or whose parents are drug-users, alcoholics or criminals. The Children's House uses family style where children of different age live together under supervision and with assistance of experienced staff. There are around 40 children, aged 5 - 18 in this Children`s House. The children attend secondary or vocational school in Kohtla-Järve (10 km from Kohtla-Nõmme). Some of the children have learning disabilities and they attend special school in Ahtme.

Rakvere Social Support Centre is governmental organisation working at regional level. It was established 2001 to provide social services for elderly and disabled people. In November of 2005 Children's Day Centre was founded to support families in solving their problems.

Spanish kindergarten Mi Casita is a daycare centre for approximately 25 children aged from 2 to 6 years. Some of the children come from Spanish families, most of them come from Finnish families. That is why the level of the language skills of the children vary a lot. In Mi Casita the main language is Spanish. The aim of the kindergarten is to offer an international environment to the children. There have been volunteers from other cultures before in Mi Casita and a new person is always welcomed to the workgroup. All the employees are coming from other countries than Finland. The community of Mi casita is wide, because the parents of the children are actively involved.

Sydänmaankylä Village is a very small and remote village situated in Kärsämäki municipality, about 20 km from the community center. Kärsämäki belongs to the area of the geographical Center of Finland. There are about 3 000 inhabitants in Kärsämäki and about 100 inhabitants in Sydänmaankylä. Typical villagers are farmers and forest owners.

The volunteer would be working in two different Finnish National Youth Centres in two different parts of Finland. The first 4 months in the spring the volunteer will work in northern Lapland in Inari. The 3 summer months the volunteer will work in the West coast of Finland in Kokkola. Both parts mean working with young people, a lot of outdoor activities and organising and implementing programs.

The childhood and youth sector of the MJC (house of youth and culture) receives each wednesday, saturday and during holidays children and teenagers having little opportunity to pratice cultural and leisure activities. The educational and teaching project was defined to allow children to learn by the game and the practice of activities. Its aims are tolerance and solidarity. It aims the acquisition of new knowledge, in order to understand better and to accept the differences of other people. A team of activities organizers supervises them and lead with them activities and leisures projects. Among those projects, a multimedia pole has been created. It allows children and young people to learn about communication by the internet. In this project, we want to create a website and to animate it with the children and the young people. This website has to allow them to get in touch with children and young people from other countries. That is why we expect the volunteer to be the link wich can help to get in touch with another country.The subjects will be defined with them but our aim is, in view of the situation of our district, the fight against the various forms of social, domestic, economic exclusion and social integration.

The hostel accommodates young people between the ages of 16 and 30, offering rooms, meal services and leisure time activities supervised by full-time monitors. The hostel is run by a team of 16 salaried employees. Our aims are to offer quality accommodation, with a convivial community life to young people from all walks of life, who can meet and get to know each other. So, we propose themes open to all Europeans, such as accident prevention, health, citizenship…

The CAT (Centre d'Aide par le Travail) de la Mée was opened in 1973; it is managed by the ADAPEI of Loire Atlantique. The CAT offers adults with learning disabilities unable to work on a temporary or permanent basis or who cannot work in a standard employment situation or work as a self-employed person: - a variety of employment-related activities - medical, educational and social support The CAT has 22 employees, including 12 educators, 1 psychiatrist, 1 psychologist, 1 orientation and mobility specialist, 2 advisers on social and family economics.

The island's Municipal Councillors wish to be a hosting structure. It would be a way of reaching their goal of developing cultural open-mindedness. The municipal youth staff works in various structures and are in charge of organising activities and actions participating to awakening and discovery. As part of this, 3 exchange programmes were organised with the help of the European youth programme (2003, 2004, 2005).

European construction is a long process. European citizenship is built day after day and in particular thanks to local actions being part of the everyday life of the people. Above all, it is built with young people who are our european citizens of tomorrow. Local authorities - Conseil général de Loire Atlantique and to a lesser extent the Conseil Régional des Pays de la Loire (elected local councils respectively at the level of the " département " and the " région ") - have realised what was at stake and decided to become partners in the project described below. The Conseil général de Loire-Atlantique, in its will to develop the éducation populaire (popular education : everyone can teach and learn from each other), wishes to include this project in its european youth programm that offers a financial support to the hosting organisations of Loire-Atlantique who are hosting young european volunteers (monthly lump sum of 690 € for each volunteer hosted). It is also the

It is in this area of our work that a young volunteer would be able to contribute the most added value to our association's work. - Leisure for all: with different activities (dance, drama, fun gymnastics, etc.) offered to the whole population based on demand and needs. Other associations use the premises to offer activities (karate, fitness sessions, etc.). - Employment and prevention: voluntary sector partnership with Inséretz, Retz'activités… A number of associations are working in this sector. - Assistance with community activities: loan of rooms, equipment…

The secondary school " Louis Querbes " has his name from one the brothers of the religious community being at the origin of this establishment. The last years, the position of the religion has known certain evolutions in the school. The importance of religion from once having a central place in the life of the school has diminuished and nowadays the laicistic education dominates. The structure is located in Strasbourg, 7th biggest town in France, with 400 000 inhabitants. Strasbourg is the economical and cultural capital city in Elsass. Strasbourg offers many possibilities of cultural and sportive discovers (theater, art gallery, libraries,…) for the volunteers hosted in EVS projects. Strasbourg is also one of the capital cities in Europe because of the Council of Europe and european parliament.

The Jean Sturm gymnasium is a secondary school teaching establishment. It is one of the oldest schools in Strasburg as it was created in 1538. Today Jean Sturm Gymnasium schools nearly 1000 pupils (14 to 18 year-old teenagers) and 129 people work in this establishment. In agreement with the terms of the National Education System's contract, it aims to give individuals both the knowledge and the' know how' that are indispensable to their progressive development and their ability to insert themselves into professional life and to participate in a social life. It is a place where exchanges, debates or training are given in relation and respect to each persons capabilities. The teachers are essentially in charge of how knowledge is passed between people. Our institution is a Home for children, certified and financed by the Lower Rhine district and located in Neuhof, one of the neighborhoods in Strasbourg. It operates year-round, 365 days per year, as a boarding home for 68 children aged 3 to 18 years old whose families are experiencing severe social difficulties. The children's schooling takes place outside the Home, in the city's primary and secondary public schools. It is as a protective measure that Children's judges decide to place minors in the Neuhof Home, in cases in which they are considered to be at risk or in danger if they remain in their families. They are under the supervision of social workers at every moment of their daily lives.

The "Emmaüs-Koenigshoffen" retirement home is part of the non-profit-making association,"Emmaüs-Deaconesses" created in 1998 and was built in 1962 and totally renovated in 2000.Today we offer: -99 beds and 4 temporary beds in the retirement home -36 beds in long-stay care -12 places for the Alzheimer section ( the "Home" ) -20 apartments: Five two-roomed, twelve large one-roomed and three standard one-roomed flats to house 25 people. - to create a context adapted for every resident whatever their physical or psychological dependence.

In addition, The M.J.C. is a social center, agreed by the French family support organisation. As such, we undergo special actions with unpriviledged children, women and foreign families. We work with 2 open-air leisure centers operating every Wednesday, Saturday and during the holidays. We welcome families and invite public writers in our intimate lounge area. All year round, we offer family outings and stays. Finally, we are lucky enough to have a "Rhizome" section where we develop artistic creation by organizing training sessions, creating and promoting visual arts. What is specific about our organisation is that we are very much involved in visual arts in a context of social and economical crisis.

"Trait d'Union" (the "Link") association manages the social centre "Maison Pour Tous" of a french municipality of approximately 2,600 inhabitants. Vendeuvre is a borough in an agricultural area, half away between Troyes (22 miles away) and Bar Sur Aube (12 miles away). It belongs to the "Forêt d'Orient" natural regional park. There are two infant schools, two primary schools and a secondary school as well as varied factories and shops. The social centre is settled in buildings belonging to the Town Council. These have been recently extended and include several activity rooms and offices. Children are also welcomed in other rooms located in the school precincts. The Centre owns a van for nine passengers and the equipment needed for its activities.

The mission of AILOJ is to host, inform, counsel and give social inclusion support to young people between 18 and 30 years of age, who are looking for their first individual accommodation. The aim of the association is to encourage any activity related to youth social inclusion through habitat and economic activities in the Rhône county. AILOJ is member of the National Union for Working Youth' Foyers implemented at the regional level. Its member associations are concerned with the development of authonomy among young people who are either starting or planning their professionnal life. AILOJ exists since 11 years, employs 23 people and has a 15 member Administrative Council. In 2005 the association served the interests of 1074 people. 26% og young people have foreign origins, 74% are French, 22% live in couples, 14% are single mothers, and 5% joined their families or friends.

The Center for Intercultural Dialogue is a newly created youth organization. The founders of the organization are young people with valuable experience in the NGO sector. Our members and founders have worked for other NGOs in Kumanovo and fYR Macedonia and majority of them have managed projects on local level. The organization has 5 Executive Board members and 30-40 active members; although on our youth information mailing list there are 110 members (young people from Kumanovo area and other parts of the country). Our target groups are young people and we work on developing projects to improve their life. We also work on supporting youth initiatives and providing training opportunities in the field of project management and design, communication and teamwork as well as intercultural learning. Our priority areas are youth participation (supporting and managing the local youth council of Kumanovo), non-formal education (training courses, seminars and other activities) and youth exchanges (on local, national and international level with the purpose of intercultural learning). We have some experience with the YOUTH programme as an informal group and as individuals, but not as far as the new organization is concerned. Kumanovo is the second largest municipality and one of the most important cities in fYR Macedonia (www.kumanovo.gov.mk). The city was devastated during the ethnic and religious based conflict that occurred in fYR Macedonia during 2001. Fortunately the local authorities managed to keep the situation under control and t

The registered association Videoaktiv (Videoaktiv e.V.) runs on a nonprofit basis and produces documentaries that comment ongoing politics, social concerns, art and culture with coverage of racism, anti-Semitism, labour, exploitation, migration, gentrification, gender and sexism. It documents international political and subcultural activities of various leftwing groups. The screenings take place at political events, in workshops and courses at Universities, youth centres as well as in independent cinemas and at film festivals, and always give a base for discussion and creation of poltical consciousness. The members also organise, on nonprofit purpose, the distribution and the public screenings followed by discussions.

The "Deutsches Rotes Kreuz"(DRK) originated from the will to give aid without discerimination to the wounded of the battlefields, tries in his international and national activity to prevent human suf-fering everywhere and to relieve it any time. It is anxious to protect life and health and to get esteem to the dignity of any person. It promotes mutual understanding, friendship, collaboration and a lasting peace among all people. In the youth welfare group "Seebad" in Erkner, which belongs to the DRK, there live boys and girls at the age of 4 - to 18 years. In the girl's housing groups in Erkner, there are 8 places for girls which need care as a part of special protection due to sexual abuse, eating disturbances, disturbed relati-ons with the origin family, school problems among other things.

Unser Verein "Treffpunkt und Wohnen in Ostthüringen e.V." wurde am 04. November 1994 mit 20 Mitgliedern gegründet und ist anerkannter Träger der Freien Jugendhilfe. Der Verein hat 6 Ange-stellte. Mit unserem Projekt "Sozial pädagogisch betreutes Jugendwohnen" bieten wir seit 1995 20 sozial benachteiligten, lernbeeinträchtigten junger Menschen, Migranten/-innen Unterkunft, Verpflegung, Begleitung und Betreuung während ihrer Zeit der schulischen / überbetrieblichen Ausbildung, För-derlehrjahr. Der TuWO e.V. - Treffpunkt und Wohnen in Ostthüringen ist seit 10 Jahren als Träger der freien Jugendhilfe anerkannt. TuWO e.V. ist ein gemeinnütziger eingetragener Verein, der im Mittelpunkt seiner sozialpädagogischen Arbeit die soziale, schulische und berufliche Integration sozial benach-teiligter und lernbeeinträchtigter junger Menschen stellt. Im Jugendwohnen arbeiten 1 Dipl. Pädagoge, 1 Heilpädagogin, 2 Erzieher /-in und 1

The Montessori School in Greifswald is an approved primary school with an 'Orientierungsstufe' (this is a period during which pupils are selected to attend different secondary schools according to their individual abilities) (Years 1-6). Next year 243 children will attend our school. Children with special needs are integrated in nearly all classes. The children are looked after by 19 full-time tea-chers who are supported by six carers, some volunteers, regularly a student on teacher training and by a member of the voluntary social or ecological services, two caretakers, a student from the job creation scheme, a kitchen help and the school secretary.

Aktivitäten: Das JFC Medienzentrum Köln (vormals Jugendfilmclub Köln e.V.) ist ein gemeinnützi-ger Verein mit Sitz in Köln. Als medienpädagogische Fachinstitution bietet das JFC seit über 30 Jahren Dienstleistungen in den Mediensparten Kino, Radio, Video und Neue Medien an, die der Vermittlung und Förderung von Medienbildung dienen. Dazu gehören Beratung, Qualifizierung, Projektentwicklung, Publikationen sowie Events auf lokaler, regionaler und nationaler Ebene. Als zentrale Anlaufstelle für die außerschulische Kinder- und Jugendmedienarbeit in Köln und Nord-rhein-Westfalen (NRW) ist es uns wichtig, qualifizierte medienpädagogische Arbeit für und mit Kin-dern und Jugendlichen zu leisten. Damit liefern wir einen wichtigen Beitrag zu der Gestaltung einer zukünftigen demokratischen Gesellschaft mit mündigen Bürgern.

The kindergarten "Bummi" is situated in the town Kühlungsborn. Kühlungsborn is a bath on the Baltic Sea. The town has 7.000 inhabitants. The kindergarten has 115 places. He works with the model of AWO. This model knows values "solidarity, tolerance, equality and justice". For the AWO Kreisverband Bad Doberan is important that children get to known the idea "Europe". In this way the organisation takes up the childrens' situation: every year many tourists are in Kühlungsborn. The children haven't contacts. The volunteer works in a project which makes a contact with the children and them parents from him homeland. He makes this contact with the new technology. The children make the contact with painting, photos, letters and so on.

Location: Spielkiste is located on the edge of a residential area in the southeast part of Leipzig. It is well-situated for public transportation. There are two secondary schools, one middle school and two primary schools and kindergartens in the neighbourhood. The local residents represent numerous social classes. Leipzig Leipzig is located in the northwest of the Free State of Saxony. The city and its 500,000 inhabitants became known throughout the world in the fall of 1989 as the center of the

Einrichtung direkt am Zentrum Leipzigs. Mit über 100 Veranstaltungen und Angeboten pro Woche bietet es ein breites Spektrum für alle Altersgruppen (von der Musikalischen Früherziehung von Kleinkindern bis zur Rückenschule für Senioren) und in verschiedensten Genres (vom Chor des Völkerschlachtdenkmals bis zur Jugend-Theatergruppe). Im Haus gibt es beispielsweise fünf verschieden ausgestattete Veranstaltungsräume, einen Medienbereich, eine Fahrrad-Selbsthilfe-Werkstatt, das Jugend-Café Neulicht, einen Bandproberaum, eine Wohngemeinschaft für Jugendliche in Freiwilligendiensten, einen offenen Kinder- & Jugend-Treff sowie die Büros verschiedener Ver-eine und Initiativen.

Since 1977 the aim of the Landschaftspflegeverein (LPV - a not-for-profit NGO) is to conserve and sustainably manage the rural landscape around the estuary of the Trave river, most of which is unter conservation as a protected area of European relevance. Among the ecosystems of special value is the northern Trave river bank, consisting mainly of dry grassland with high biodiversity. The site is actively managed by the LPV. Grazing by a herd of about 500 sheep and goats is essential to keep the ecosystem in its present state. The sheperd's work is guided by the results of scientific surveys carried out by the LPV's biologist.

The Kinderhaus is an institution with three Kindergarden groups and one day-care group. Approximately 100 children at the ages between 2 and 12 are visiting the institution every day. They are taken care of kindergarten teachers and one remedial teacher. Altogether, aside from the manager, ten kindergarten teacher (9 female, 1 male), one domestic economist, one Trainee, and one volunteer are working there. Sponsor of the institution is the evangelische Kirchengemeinde (protestant congregation) Oelde. One of the main focuses of the Protestant Parish is working with children and young adolescence. She is the sponsor of two kindergartens and employs one fulltime person as a youth advisor. It is in the main interest of the Kirchengemeinde to support each individual child and young adolescence to each needs and abilities. Maintaining an open responsible relationship with the parents is one prerequisite for such a promotion. Particularly parents with fulltime employment need a reliable and easy support to be able to cope with the fast everyday changes.

Children working and youth working in the Jugendhaus is managed by one fulltime employee as a youth advisor. The main application areas are many offers of leisure facilities for children and youngsters.The offers in the Jugendhaus is groups working and free work, seminary and leisure time in holiday camps. Also after school children are doing their homework by help. In connection with the training of honorary co-workers there are seminars with certain topics referring to youth work.The youth adviser will accompany and assist the volunteer in weekly arrangements and at the activities in groups. Our team consists of one full time employees, one secretary and a janitor.

Der Verein Querxenland Seifhennersdorf e.V. betreibt eine 80.000 qm große Ferienanlage für Kinder und Jugendliche. Insgesamt stehen 552 Betten zur Verfügung. Es werden vorwiegend Klassenfahrten, Feriencamps, Proben- und Trainingslager, Familienfreizeiten und Bildungsseminare angeboten. Schwerpunkt unserer Arbeit sind die Absicherung verschiedener Projektangebote, die Animation zu sinnvoller Freizeitgestaltung sowie ein allumfassender Service. Darüberhinaus betreiben wir eine Kindertagesstätte und ein Spielmobil. Insgesamt stehen dafür 34 MitarbeiterInnen zur Verfügung.

The Independent Active School Stuttgart has been a primary school since September 2001 and a secondary vocational school since September 2006. Our children are able to visit this school until they reach year 10. We are solely there for special needs children with disabilities. The eight founder families had Albert Einstein, amongst others, in mind when they were looking for an alternative to regular schooling. Einstein once said it is indeed a miracle that the modern method of teaching has not totally suppressed the inquisitive interest into research. This small, delicate plant needs not only incentives but primarily freedom to flourish. Without it, it will no doubt wilt and die.

Deutsch: Die Einrichtung betreut, erzieht, bildet und fördert Kinder im vorschulpflichtigen Alter von 2-6 Jahren, bzw. ab September 07, ab 10 Monate bis 6 Jahre, nach christlichen Grundsätzen. Sie bildet die Basis für ein tolerantes und offenes Miteinander, wo auch andere Konfessionen und Behinderte Achtung und Aktzeptanz finden. Gelebt wird dieser Grundsatz im täglichen Miteinander, da viele der Kindergartenkinder aus den verschiedensten Ländern und Kulturen stammen. Der Kindergartentag der Kinder gliedert sich in : Freispielzeit, gezielte Angebote und Aktionen mit der Gruppe wie z.b. Morgenkreis, Gruppengespräch, Kinderkonferenz, Stuhlkreisspiele, Kursangebote und Projekte. Eine wichtige Rolle spielen im Kindergarten auch Aktionen für und mit den Eltern.

The XXIst Century Foundation was founded in 1998 as a public service with the goal and purpose to help children, teens and young adult age groups, particularly those who, for some reason, are in a disadvantaged situation to be able to catch up with those in their same age group and to integrate into the normal flow of society. According to the abilities of these people groups and as far as possible to help them meet their challenges and deal with the addictions they are facing. The Foundation also simultaneously desired to pay attention to families with small children and the elderly. The Founda-tion's leadership consists of three trustees and all of them have advanced levels of social skills and theology qualifications. There are also 30 volunteer workers implementing various programs. Among the volunteers are young teachers, social workers, economists and a Canadian couple living in Hun-gary who are conducting EFL courses. Geographically, the Foundation is connected to the XVII Dis-trict of Budapest and most of the work is performed in that area. The Foundations has

The Children Hospital Bethesda provides medical and mental health care for children between 0-18 ages. The main aim is to give patients high standards of medical service but it is also important to conducive to personal, emotional, social spiritual growth. Within the hospital setting Bethesda group children according to their chronological age and medical needs. The Hospital has 171 beds and the possibility to effective work in nine different departments such as internal medicine, surgery, ER, neurology, lab, diagnostic, dermatological centre etc. The Hospital cares annual about 100.000 children. There are about 350 staff, where are around 150 nurses, 50 doctors and other staff for running the hospital everyday life. The Bethesda Children Hospital is the only church established children hospital in Eastern Europe, where the patient whole healing is taken into consideration. There are pastors and therapist, who are also supporting the children's mental and spiritual healing.

The Sarepta Home is for mentally disabled youths and adults, but for Elderly people as well. The home offers 90 places for disabled people and 87 Elderly at the same site but not in the same building. The volunteer will work with people with disability. The home also offers home, special education, rehabilitation, workshops and physical therapy for people for disabilities. Besides possibilities for work and living treatment due to a practitioner's prescription can be offered. The institution for physical, ergo and logo therapy and conductive therapy is available. The aim of the home is to give disabled people assistance they needed for maintenance and achievement for the best possible independence. The home also offers different workshops for disabled like weaving, making small carpets also for selling outside the home and other creative workshops.

Our organization is in the 20th district of Budapest. Budapest is the capital city of Hungary with 2 million people, a beautiful city, many opportunities to spend freetime (museums, cinemas, zoo, pubs, sightseeing, etc.). The 20th district is a suburban part of the capital city with 65 000 people who live in blocks of flats or family houses. We have nearly 20 primary schools and 8 secondary schools. Our district doesn't have a university or a college, that's why university students spend very little time in this place. Our organization's target group is the youth, mainly secondary school students, but we have many younger and some older clients, too. The "Pince" Youth Information and Counselling Office has 3 services. 1st: to give information, 2nd counselling services, 3rd internet use and leisure activities (drug-prevention programmes, clubs). The information and counselling we provide is mainly for young people. While furnishing the office, we found it very important to build a friendly, home-like environment. So ours doesn't look like a typical office.

Our foundation was established in 1990 providing several services and assistance, giving support people who live disability, offering services to their family too. Our aims are to empower the disabled people integrate to the society. We would like to improve the social sensibility amongst the healthy people showing the values of the disabled people. Main activities: education, generative trainings and therapies (for ex. horse- and music therapy) support service: transport, personal support, special job service. Our organisation is a bilingual (hungarian and german) educationial institution from kindergarten to secondary school and hostel. In our institution there are children from 3-18 years old. Our education-training system is flexible, innovative, open, to emphasise tolerance, acceptation of different people, presentation of human value, european cultural value, acquaint to add the german cultural tradition in. Our aims: educating children to became harmonious persons. We operate two kindergartens, where the EVS volunteers will work. In these kindergartens there are 7 groups with 155 children and 27 paid staff. The children are 3-7 aged in both kindergartens. Our organisation is a practice-location for students and there are trainees regularly. The volunteers take part in the activities with childen helping the work of the kindergarten teachers. The volunteers can join to other communities at the coordinating organisation and in the "Tetthely" EVS club, ex-volunteer club, different workshops or youth clubs.

The volunteer is to accompany the residents in their leisure time activities and to assist them in learning social and everyday skills.

Tótvázsony is situated in the basin at the meeting point of the Balaton-Uplands and the southern part of the mountains of Bakony. The village can be found next to the road connecting Veszprém and Tapolca, 12 km far from the county seat and 10 km from the lake Balaton. The most important field is the turism in this region, and the Upland is famous of its vine-culture. In the summer time many tourists are staying in our two high standard hotels spending their free-time near the lake, and from autumn to spring many hunters are visiting the forests wich are very rich in animals. There is a bicycle track round the lake Balaton, and there are good opportunities for bicyclists in the region. We live next to the Balaton-Uplands National Park, where there are many natural values, and oppurtinities for outdoor sports, such as caving and rock-climbing, and of course the lake provides many opportunities too. As there are many Swabian villages, such as Tótvázsony, in this region, you can find a lot of exhibitions about the Swabian culture and traditions. We preserve the Hungarian traditions

Mol an Oige Steiner Primary School was established in September 2005 by local parents who wished to provide a positive education experience for their children. Its educational approach is based on that of Steiner Waldorf Education. The project has developed from a parent and toddler group to provide an education service for children between the ages of 5 and 13. The overall objective of the school is to establish a permanent centre in Ennistymon and to expand its service to cater for the various childcare needs of the local community. This will include summer camps, after school care, parent and toddler groups, parenting training, etc. The primary school aims to be socially inclusive and is open to all children in the community.

The Home for Children "Keja" in Biskupiec is an co-educational institution. It exists since 1950. After the reorganization of the children and family care system the institution changed its character and form of the children care, now it is a family-similar place. From the 1st of March 2006 the Home for Children changed the localization and rules of function. There is only one place like this in the whole voievodeship Warmia and Mazury. The point of it is to provide temporary care for orphans. The Home for Children is a place on the second floor of the former building of the military unit. The whole building have beed adapted for living conditions, there are also private apartaments. There is 7 living segments in our insitution. Each of them has got 2 rooms and a bathroom. Rooms are single and double. There is one kitchen for all inhabitants connected with sitting-room.

Czestochowa's Secondary School of Economics educates students between 16 and 20 years of age, who intend to work in secretarial, administrative or clerical and banking environment. It also trains students for the hotel and tourism industry. The students are taught English, German, French and Russian. The school employs about 75 teachers and educates over 1000 students. It is open from 8 am until 7 pm. There exist extra-curricular activities such as drama, poetry, sport, information technology and non-formal education clubs: The Volunteer School Club and The School's European Integration Club, "Eurofan", which is a non-for-profit organization, not engaged in any type of commercial activities. It was set up in 1995 by a group of professionally trained teachers and students, who had been active members of the association. The aim of the School, and, in particular, its European Integration Club, is to facilitate access to information about the European Union; fill in any knowledge gaps in the cultural, scientific and educational fields and inform about opportunities of working abroad. The Club also promotes other customs and traditions

Municipal Kindergarten No. 38 is an institution created and financed by the local government authorities available to children between 3 and 6 years of age. At the moment, 120 children attend the kindergarten and they are divided into 6 age groups: 3-year-olds, 4-year-olds, 6-year-olds and three groups of mixed age. Twelve teachers and administrative staff of fifteen persons work there. The kindergarten is opened Monday to Friday from 5.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. In different groups, different activities are organized. They include elements of art (drawing, painting, etc.), music (singing, dancing), sport (exercises), writing and reading in the oldest groups as well as activities with the use of computers. All activities are based on the principle of learning through play. Thanks to games and competitions, children get to know the society in general: both in the local and European dimension. In 2004 and 2005 "My city in the European Union" Project was being carried out. Teachers organise activities focused on a particular European country (its culture and factual information). Every week, children learn something new connected with a chosen place (city and society) in Europe. Intercultural Learning is an extra programme undertaken by the Kindergarten, which goes beyond the standard kindergarten curriculum. The Volunteer, therefore, will be mainly working with

The Youth Centre in Czêstochowa is a large local youth centre offering a range of after-school leisure time activities. It is a place designed to meet the needs of young people of all age groups (pre-school children, pupils, students). The Youth Centre is a non-profit organization so young people come here for free. A number of classes are offered: the young people can learn singing, playing musical instruments, drawing, painting, dancing, using specific computer applications, modelling, tailoring and more. There are also English, computer, journalism, photography, and drama classes as well as electrotechnical and short-wave radio workshops. The range of activities offered in a given year depends on the instructors' and the participants' ideas. What is worth noting, there is a swimming pool and an auditorium on the premises. The Educational and Cultural Association of the Kêtrzyn Community is a non-profit organization run by the volunteers, most of them are teachers. It was created in 2002 for everybody who wants to work for the idea of education of the society based on the tolerance and resepect for other people and own identity. 23 members of the association work with children, youth, adults, elderly and disabled people. They: - organize after school activities for children and youth in various groups of interest, e.g. sport, art, computers, etc.; - do social work with adults, workshops about domestic violence or creative ways of finding work;

Mlodziezowy Dom Kultury (MDK) is a local youth center. It's an institution for non-formal education supported by local goverment. The principal idea of MDK is to support kids and youth in developement of their skills and animate the cultural life of the city. The center offers about 20 different groups of interest. The most popular are dancing teams "Demonki", "ReGeDe", "Awers". "Intro" is a vocal group created to work with youth who like to sing. MDK is a friendly place for young rock bands too. The young musicians can practise here. MDK supports them with all needed instruments. There is also a theatre group for people who want to practice before they go to theatre academy, computer section, fantasy games club, ecological section and chess team. The pupils of the center publish the montly magazine. MDK it's not only work in different sections - it's a good backgrund for development of youth personality. The Academy of Youth Activities supports all interesting ideas. Everyone can create their own projects and see it through.

Library Services for the Lebork area are provided by the County Council. The main activities include promoting reading programs, creative activities, crafts, local culture and drama. Furthermore, the library plays a vital role in supporting the local students to become independent learners. The library mainly focuses on organizing different educational activities with kids and adolescents. There are 16 people working in the library. The library concentrate on the work with children. We organize meetings especially for kids with books and good fun: Good Morning Kids (2-5 years), Obibok Dragon Cave (4-7 years), and Fabulous Movie Meetings. In the library there are colourful places with books and toys only for small children.

Klub Przyrodników (Naturalists`Club) is an organisation dedicated to protecting nature and educating the public on ecological issues. Based in a town of Œwiebodzin in Western Poland, the Club operates throughout the country. Currently, the Club has over 400 members. It is administered by a 7-person management board, and has 12 employees. The Club's Nature Preservation Unit conducts nature-related surveys and prepares project documentation and preservation plans for areas under protection. Among Club's major projects and programmes are: "Preservation of xerothermic grasses in the Œrodkowe Nadodrze region"; "Ecological development of the Warta Estuary region"; "Active preservation of marsh grounds in Western Poland"; "Preservation of rare varieties of plant in forests of the Zielonogórskie region"; "Preservation of snake sites in the Ziemia Lubuska region";

Daycare centre for children "Happy 18" is a public organization, it exists since 1977. It is generally considered as a part of early childchood education for 3 - 6-year-old children. Children are divided into four groups in terms of age (3 years old, 4 years old, 5 years old, 6 years old), around 30 pupils each. So daycare centre offers its' services to around 120 children in total.

Kujawsko-Pomorska Wojewódzka Komenda OHP is an institution which takes care of youth. Particularly, there are poor, social neglected, unemployed young people, with social and educational problems. On 1 March 2006 year our institution employed 133 workers in the whole kujawsko-pomorskie voivodeship. The OHP performs the targets of the country in range of: education, employment and upbringing young people in age: 15-25 years old. It focuses on variuos activities that contribute to the futher development of the youth. The most important targets of our institution are following: - to support system of education in the country - to activate young people in fields of social, professional and economic development - to conduct an apprenticeship for social neglected young people that have educational problems

"THINK BIG - do little: start an avalanche!" is the motto of the Young Researchers of Serbia - Voluntary Service of Serbia, non-governmental, non-profit youth organisation. YRS-VSS is an umbrella of 26 research clubs and societies from Serbia. For 30 years we have been gathering young people round our research projects, voluntary camps, educational programmes and environmental campaigns, thus stimulating scientific creativity of young people and motivating them for voluntary work, environmental protection and nature conservation.

AMUS (Acción por el Mundo Salvaje, "Action for wild life") is founded in 1995 as a non-profit, apolitical, non-religious NGO. Its diverse action lines are centred in specific realities with a common denominator which define it as an entity working for wild animals, counting with a recovery centre. Apart from attending injured animals, we study many different aspects of wild life, including the extension of human settlements and its impact in wild life. We have been doing this for one decade now. Currently, AMUS is formed by a team of professionals and volunteers concerned about nature and the deterioration of natural habitats.

Organisation The Culture Centrum Tegelbruket is located in the small city of Högsby in Småland/Sweden. Tegelbruket started its activities during the 80´s by some of the local youth and with the help from the municipality. The project had some tuff years and had to close in the mid 90´s. Tegelbruket reopened in 2000 and has been open since then and has just been growing with new activities. Tegelbrukets target group is young people between the ages of 8-20 but most of the young people that visit Tegelbruket are between 12-15 years. The amount of young people that visit Tegelbruket during an evening can vary between 30-60 youngsters.

Bogazici University was formally established on September 10, 1971. While thus appearing to be a newcomer to the community of Turkish universities, it has behind it the long history of Robert College, which was the first American College to be established outside the boundaries of the United States. With the transfer of the site to the Turkish government, Bogazici University became the direct heir to not only the excellent facilities of Robert College but also to its distinguished academic tradition.

Are CEOs with MBAs actually stronger leaders? The answer might depend on the age of the CEO. Inspired by the raging debate last year over the role of MBAs in the financial crisis, we tried to analyze whether having an MBA influences overall CEO performance. In a large-scale study of CEO performance since they took office, we found that other things equal, MBA CEOs had a slight performance edge over their non-MBA peers. In our analysis and ranking of the performance of 2,000 CEOs around the globe, CEOs who had an MBA on average ranked 40 places higher than CEOs who didn't have an MBA (a statistically significant effect).

Motivation

How (And When) to Motivate Yourself I woke up this morning to pouring rain and temperatures in the low 40s. I had planned on going for an early bike ride in Central Park but now I wasn't so sure. I like to get some exercise every day and given my commitments for the rest of the day, this was my only opportunity. But did I really want to get so wet and cold?

Myth

So here's the paradox: Americans are working 10 percent fewer total hours than they did before the recession, due to layoffs and shortened workdays, but we're producing nearly as many goods and services as we did back in the full employment days of 2007.

At our venture capital firm, Cue Ball, we are pretty maniacal about understanding customers.
